NL25 shot 1

I decided at the end of January having completed the targets set for that month to have a 4 buy in shot at NL25.

Well that has been and gone already!!!

The stats look like this :-

3612 hands.

-4 Buy Ins.

-5.58ptbb/100.

Lol. Pretty shocking to be honest!

Played ok in the main. Reviewing the whole session it was all lost in five hands.

One hand I played AK OOP in a 3bet pot and hit Top Pair Top Kicker and lost to AA – standard. Link is here… http://weaktight.com/4365008

Another one I had a loose station calling me to death and got him all in perfectly and he binked trip 9’s on the river!!

Anyway, basically it was ok. I don’t think I played very well on the whole. Losing Jack didn’t help for a couple of the days but no excuses really. Didn’t win any big pots at all so that doesn’t help.

Maybe it is worth looking at some of my stats but it is such a small sample it is pretty irrelevant I think. I felt pretty card dead for periods.

Figures in brackets are from NL10 in January.

Hands won 13.71% (12.47)

W$WSF 49.7% (39.9)

W$SD 65.3% (61.4)

AF 3.7 (2.0)

3b pre 2.8% (2.0)

Flop Cbet 77.0% (56.7)

Flop Cbet success 50.4% (47.0)

Looking at these I actually probably played better at NL25!!! Maybe I over adjusted and got too aggressive but these figures actually really please me.

So its back to NL10 with a new target or two……

January 2012 Target – 1 Success, 1 Fail!!!

Hands played = 11614. Target was 10000. SUCCESS!!!

Win rate = 2.77ptbb/100. Target was 4ptbb/100. FAIL!!!

Getting the hands in was fairly simple. I didn’t really get any long sessions in, maybe 90 minutes maximum, but lots of 60 minute sessions generally playing 4 tables.

As for the win rate!? The 31st January cost me this target all on its own!!! I had a 4 buy-in losing session (i.e -$40) that day which took the month’s winnings from approximately $145 to around $105. Is it worth pointing out that I was $40 below EV??? I don’t know, I’m not a big fan of it but for those who care EV adjusted I was +4.5ptbb/100.

So, because of my (epic?) fail on the win rate I have had a discussion with my poker hero/mentor/coach (to be) Jack. Between us we have decided that because of my large bankroll and because 2.7ptbb/100 is actually a good win rate, I need to be aggressive with my bankroll management and move up to NL25.

I have discussed with Jack the 4 buy-in losing session and between us we are not too displeased with the hands (4 of them!) that caused it. Some room for improvement but overall just part of the game.

Here is the PT3 graph for the month:-

And here is a screenshot of winnings from Skypoker (which cannot be used in conjunction with Pokertracker!):-

This little session at Skypoker ( winning £41.43 (sterling)) was in 97 hands!! I actually haven’t done this in ages but if you are sober on Friday or Saturday late evening when there are lots of drunk people playing you can really make some quick bucks!! Maybe if I was more sober I would have won more!!!! It can be high variance though as you have to bluff catch a bit!!

Anyway, there’s the results. I will make another post for my next targets and another one for some roll/level updates.

EDIT: I have just looked back at this and it seems I am cheating a little!!! Including the Skypoker winnings is not really fair as my target was set specifically at NL10. Skypoker was at NL£20 which is the equivalent of NL$30 so it could/should be dismissed. So actual NL10 win rate is 1.89ptbb/100 as per the graph (Fail, sample size, variance, lol!).

(NL£20 win rate for those interested is 106.8ptbb/100 !!!!! LOL).

NL10 target – January 2012

In January I want to:-

1. Play at least 10,ooo hands at NL10 (on PartyPoker).

2. Beat NL10 for a win rate of at least 4ptbb/100.

It is the 27th January now! I set these targets in December though.

The first target is interesting for me because I never really had much idea of how many hands I play per month. As it is 27th now I can confirm that I have met this target just recently.

The second target is interesting because 10,000 hands is not really a fair or big enough size sample to judge a winrate on. I actually set this figure of 4ptbb/100 because I assumed (maybe incorrectly!) that this would be easily achievable and that in meeting the target I can move onto NL25 quite quickly. I was hoping to spend some time at NL10 observing opponents and seeing how they play in general and then making observations on the differences between that and NL25.

(With 4 days of January to go my winrate is around 5ptbb/100 (I will post graph’s etc on 1st February). I am disappointed with this for a few reasons. That is for my posts on February 1st though, I will explain then. Anyway, it is looking good for moving to NL25 for now shall we say!?)
